Stress Management

During our early research into the lives of pastors, clergy told us in vivid detail about the web of complex relationships and the extensive list of responsibilities they encounter in ministry. In response, our efforts within Spirited Life focus on preparing clergy to flourish and develop resilience in the face of the challenges of ministry in the 21st century.

Because people experience stress in different ways and at different levels of intensity, our approach to stress management is highly individualized. We will work with you to define the stressors that are affecting you most directly and find ways to mitigate them by building on the positive aspects of your life and ministry and diffusing those areas that are more draining.

Building Positives

During our workshops and through conversations with your wellness advocate, we will:

  • Help you name your own strengths
  • Connect you to deeply-held values that undergird your work and life
  • Provide confidential support and high quality referrals to other care professionals
  • Offer access to specific tools for diffusing the stressors you identify
  • Help you name whether you want to make a change and the factors motivating that decision, and provide support at each point in the change process

Diffusing Negatives

During our workshops and through conversations with your wellness advocate, we will:

  • Document and validate the varied stresses of ministry and their impact on your health
  • Share how ministry professionals compare to other caregivers and identify ways to prevent burnout and build resilience
  • Survey and screen to measure the impact of stress on your physical, emotional, and mental health
